Summary
The growth rings of an unknown tree species, at Bristol Zoo, Bristol, England. This trunk is three feet (1 metre) across.
Notice that a ring is not of uniform width i.e. it cannot be assumed that a wide ring represents a good growing season since the opposite conclusion could be made elsewhere on the same ring. Photographed by Adrian Pingstone in September 2005 and released to the public domain.
