François L'Yvonnet

François L'Yvonnet (born 1949) is a French professor of philosophy and editor.

Biography

He directs the collection "Via Latina" at Éditions Albin Michel and the Philosophy series of the "Carnets" at L'Herne. A friend of Jean Baudrillard, he has published a book of interviews with him, dedicated an essay to him, and edited the Cahier de L'Herne dedicated to Baudrillard. He also co-directed (with Françoise Gaillard) the Cerisy colloquium in August 2019: Jean Baudrillard, l'intelligence du temps qui vient. With the futurist Thierry Gaudin, he published L'Avenir de l'Esprit and the Discours de la méthode créatrice.

He has also published studies on Louis Massignon, Paul Claudel, Léon Bloy, George Steiner, Ernst Jünger, Simone Weil and François Jullien.

François L'Yvonnet is a member of the Academy of Latinity (founded in Rio de Janeiro by Candido Mendes, Jean Baudrillard, Edgar Morin, Alain Touraine, Gianni Vattimo, Carlos Fuentes, Gabriel García Márquez, Augusto Roa Bastos and José Saramago). He is also a member of the Scientific Council of the Edgar Morin Chair on Complexity at ESSEC, and an associate member of the Chair of Otherness at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (FMSH) in Paris.
