Friends School of Wilmington is an 18 months - 8th grade private/independent Quaker school located in New Hanover County in Wilmington, NC. The school was founded in 1995 by the Wilmington (NC) Friends Meeting and has grown from a middle school for 30 students to a school for 190 students. Friends School is located on two campuses located 2.9 miles apart with five buildings and eight acres of playgrounds, fields, gardens, woods, and a pond.

The Montessori preschool program lays a critical foundation for future growth as students explore areas such as Practical Life, Sensorial Activities, Cultural Areas, Language, Mathematics, Art and Kindermusik, and hone their large and small motor skills in an outdoor learning environment. Elementary and middle school students focus on math, language arts, social studies and science on a daily basis, in conjunction with enrichment courses and additional classes and activities such as physical education, Spanish, art, music, service learning and meeting for worship. Students are able to enroll in after school enrichment courses and programs including Yearbook, Drama, Basketball, Soccer and Instrumental lessons. From 18 months to 8th gradde, the Friends School curriculum is research-based and process-oriented, and allows for differentiated instruction.

The vigorous academic approach is designed to develop joyful, confident, successful students in a collaborative and supportive learning environment. The Quaker values of peace, harmony, equality, and social justice lead to distinct educational programs focusing on the environment and service learning.

Friends School of Wilmington is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, the Southern Association of Independent Schools, the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools, and the Friends Council on Education.
