George Alexander Albrecht (15 February 1935) is a German conductor. His brother Ernst Albrecht (1930-2014) was a politician. His son is the conductor Marc Albrecht.

Albrecht studied violin, piano and composition, and in 1954 he received the Prix d'excellence of the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy. At age 29, he became general music director (GMD) of the Staatsoper Hannover, at the time the youngest GMD in German history. He concluded his tenure in Hannover with the 1992-1993 season.

From 1990 to 1995, Albrecht was a regular guest conductor of the Semperoper in Dresden, where his work included conducting the George Tabori production of Schoenberg's opera Moses und Aron in 1994. He served as general music director of the Deutschen Nationaltheaters Weimar and the Staatskapelle Weimar from 1996 to 2002.

Albrecht has championed the music of Wilhelm Furtwängler, Hans Pfitzner, Erwin Schulhoff, and Allan Pettersson among others. He holds an honorary professorship at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, Weimar.
