Guillermo "Willy" Hernangómez Geuer[1] (born May 27, 1994) is a Spanish professional basketball player who plays for Real Madrid of the Liga ACB. Standing at 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m), he plays at the center position.

Professional career
Real Madrid
Considered one of the best prospects of Real Madrid, Hernangómez played his first pro seasons on its reserve team. In the summer of 2013, Hernangómez was loaned by Real Madrid to Cajasol Sevilla, extending his agreement for one more season in the next summer.
On July 16, 2015, he returned to Real Madrid.[2]
NBA rights
On April 24, 2015, Hernangómez declared for the 2015 NBA draft.[3] On June 25, 2015, the Philadelphia 76ers selected him with the 35th pick, and later that night, traded him to the New York Knicks for two future picks and cash considerations. His Sevilla teammate, Kristaps Porziņģis, was also acquired by the Knicks in the draft with the 4th pick.[4]

Personal life
Hernangómez is a son of Guillermo Hernangómez Heredero and Margarita "Wonny" Geuer Draeger, who also played basketball at center; his brother Juancho is also a player at power forward. His mother Margarita was born in Seville, and is of German origin.[6][7]
