State Road 229 is a north–south state highway in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Indiana.

Route description

The southern terminus of SR 229 is at U.S. Route 421 (US 421), in the town of Napoleon in central Ripley County. The route heads east-southeast, until an intersection with the western terminus of the eastern section of SR 48. At the intersection with SR 48, SR 229 turns north-northeast. The highway heads towards Batesville as a rural curvy two-lane highway, passing through a mix of farmland and woodland. The highway enter Batesville and has an intersection at SR 46. After SR 46 is an interchange with Interstate 74 (I–74), before leaving Batesville. After Batesville the route passes through Oldenburg and Peppertown, before its northern terminus at US 52 in Franklin County.[2]

No part of SR 229 is included as a part of the National Highway System (NHS).[3] The NHS is a network of highways that are identified as being most important for the economy, mobility and defense of the nation.[4]
