A few notes from publicly available information.
  • Wikipedia is dying. It peaked in 2007-8 by several metrics. Infogalactic began as project Big Fork in early 2016 to REPLACE Wikipedia by routing around its various faults. It was privately crowd funded in short order, demonstrating demand. Vox Day made a statement on his blog, Vox Popoli, to the effect that Infogalactic will eclipse (maybe not his exact word) Wikipedia within a few years, maybe less than three, in terms of pageviews. His stated goals at that time included a fork of the entire English Wiki, which has been accomplished.
  • In the process and before, it was discovered among other things that the Wiki software is rickety old cruft from the 1990's that relies on massive caching to operate. Picture a potluck dinner that had been running continuously for two decades and everybody brought the same old spaghetti dish and dumped it onto a giant plate of mummified same in the middle of the table. So the fork was very slow back in summer 2016, running on considerably less server power than WP has. It took quite a bit of effort to overcome that, and the roadmap has been adjusted accordingly. As with any startup, plans change during the process.
  • The first 4 of the Phase 1 goals, if they aren't declared complete, are certainly close. An outside person made a detailed comment to the effect that the Infogalactic tech team, aside from attempting the impossible, are doing so at a rate well over an order of magnitude beyond standard dev practice. What looks slow isn't necessarily slow. The 5th goal has to do with what various levels of Starlords and Galaxians can and cannot do. They'll implement that at some point.
  • Phase 2. The DONTPANIC engine is a part of the adjusted plan. They are not content to merely fork WP and replace the database software. They are also replacing the MediaWiki engine, the one that all wikis use, that serves images and other content. It was decided to do this early on. Dynamic Updates was originally called Fork Bot (search Vox Popoli for any of this, and amend as needed). Any WP page that get updated will be updated on IG, as long as that page has not been edited on IG. This could be done with a spider similar to the original one used for the fork, by adding a compare feature. Rectified (talk) 04:29, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the above. I agree that Wikipedia and Mainstream Media are going downhill due to the lies and deceptions of the "official" narrative. But I don't know if it's "dying". It's established. They have problems with their fascistic rigged rules and are unwilling to change in any number of ways to allow "fringe" or "fancruft" inclusion so their "administrators" are absolutely overwhelmed. I am thrilled to be on InfoGalactic as long as there is freedom and inclusion rather than limits and censorship. I understand why the Roadmap might need special permission to edit it, so I can't, but I don't mind. However, I think you should put more specific details in it, not just here on the discussion page.
Also, as you may know, I have my own personal ToDo list on my Userpage which includes template ideas. I am not a coder but might take up that up in order to make it happen. However, I am a professional graphic designer and animator and would be glad to design template icons or banners specifically for InfoGalactic. I'd also like to clean up the existing IG logo, if I could, and if you would point me to the best version of the logo (an SVG?).

Still planning to integrate Gab?

Now that SocialGalactic has been-relaunched it seems like the obvious choice for social media integration instead. ~ User:RyanMcCoskrie (talk) 2019-12-23T10:30:10

As Social Galactic is tending toward paid access Gab could still be a viable platform. Also it depends to what level of integration is planned. Is the purpose of social media integration to replace the Talk page on wiki pages? Maybe a public version of Social Galactic could be offered that would be a better fit for IG.
