John Dorrington (May 1881 – 9 January 1944) was an English professional footballer who spent his entire professional career as a goalkeeper at Small Heath (renamed Birmingham in 1905), for which he made over 100 appearances in the Football League.

A native of Smethwick, which was then an urban district in Staffordshire, Dorrington took over in goal from Nat Robinson in 1907–08, but remained undisputed first choice for only a couple of seasons. Injury forced his retirement in or around 1913.

Dorrington died in the Birmingham suburb of Handsworth at the age of 62.
