Jack So Chak-kwong (simplified Chinese: 苏泽光; traditional Chinese: 蘇澤光) Appointed as Chairman of the Board of Airport Authority Hong Kong in June 2015. He was the former Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Chairman of the Consultative Committee on Economic and Trade Co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland, non-official member of the Economic Development Commission, Chairman of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society and Harrow International School Hong Kong, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Honorary Consultant to the Mayor of San Francisco and former International Business Advisor to the Mayor of Beijing, a member of Lantau Development Advisory Committee of HKSARG. Independent non-executive Director of AIA Group Ltd and China Resources Power Holdings Company Ltd. Senior advisor to Credit Suisse, Greater China, and Advisor to The Hong Kong & China Gas Company Ltd. Mr So served as Executive Director of the HKTDC from 1985 to 1992. He became Chairman and Chief Executive of the MTR Corporation in 1995. He was Deputy Chairman and Group Managing Director of PCCW from 2003 to 2007 and Independent Director of HSBC from 2000 to 2007.

He appointed as non-executive director of Huanxi Media Group Limited from September 2, 2015.[1]

Early years

So was born in Guangzhou Republic of China on 12 February 1945.[2] He emigrated out of the People's Republic of China, and moved to Hong Kong when he was 12 years old.[2] He went to La Salle College and eventually the University of Hong Kong.[2]

Career

So began his career with the Hong Kong Government. He then joined the private sector in 1978 and held various posts in stockbroking, banking and property development.

He served as Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council from 1985 to 1992, and the Chairman from 2007 to May 31, 2015.[3]

So was the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Mass Transit Railway Corporation Limited in 1995. He was Deputy Chairman and Group Managing Director of PCCW from 2003 to 2007.

He assumed the Chairmanship of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) on 1 October 2007.[3] In this capacity, he presided over a 19-member Council comprising representatives of Hong Kong's major commerce and industry organisations and government officials.

In October 2007 he was also appointed by the HKSAR Government as Chairman of the Film Development Council and Member of the Commission on Strategic Development.[3]

So is an advisor to the China Netcom Group. He is also a non-executive Director of American International Assurance Company Limited, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He also sits on a number of other committees, including The University of Hong Kong Council and the Hong Kong - United States Business Council.

In 2008 he was appointed as a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.[3][4]
