James N.J. Aneke

Navy Captain James N.J. Aneke was appointed military governor of Imo State in Nigeria from December 1993 to August 1996 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.[1] Speaking of his administration, Bob Njemanze from the Njemanze ruling dynasty in Owerri, Imo State, described him as "a young man with beautiful ideas but no action."[2] During his period as governor, Owerri was plagued by kidnappings and ritual killings, which he was unable to prevent.[3]

In April 2009, Commodore (retired) James Aneke joined the People's Democratic Party.[4]
