Joseph R. "Joe" Hoppe (born December 13, 1964) is a Minnesota politician and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represents District 47B, which includes portions of Carver County in the southwestern part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. He is also a local businessman and works in communications.[1]

Education

Hoppe graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, then went on to Saint John's University in Collegeville, earning a B.A. in History.[2][3]

Minnesota House of Representatives

Hoppe was first elected in 2002, and was re-elected in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012. He ran unopposed in 2010 and 2012.[4] He was the chair of the House Commerce Committee during the 2011–2012 session.[5]

Personal life

Hoppe is a renowned hunter and angler, and participated in the 2011 Governor's Fishing Opener with Minnesota House of Representatives Speaker Kurt Zellers and Governor Mark Dayton.[6] He was also invited to the Governor's Pheasant Hunting Opener in 2011.[7]
