John Lyons (born June 1977) is a former Irish Labour Party politician.[1] Lyons was elected as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin North-West constituency at the 2011 general election. He was previously a member of Dublin City Council from 2008 to 2011 representing the Ballymun-Finglas area.[2]
A son of John and Josie Lyons, he attended Trinity Comprehensive (then known as Ballymun Comprehensive).[3]
He studied at Maynooth University gaining a BA and HDip, he subsequently studied special education at Trinity College, Dublin.[4]
He is openly gay and was one of the first two openly LGBT members of Dáil Éireann, along with Meath East's Dominic Hannigan.[5]
He lost his seat at the 2016 general election.[2]
