Julia Ratti (born 1969) is a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate. She represents the 13th district, which covers parts of Washoe County, including much of Sparks and Reno.

Biography

Ratti was born in Reno, Nevada.[1] She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and received a master's degree from the University of San Francisco in 2004.[2]

In 2008, Ratti was elected to the Sparks City Council, and reelected in 2012.[3] She decided not to run for reelection to the Council in 2016 in order to run for the Senate in a special election to replace Senator Debbie Smith, who had died.[4][5][6]

In September 2016, Ratti was appointed to the Senate in order to replace Smith.[2][3][7][8] She won election to the seat in November 2016.[9]

Personal life

Ratti is married to her husband, James Cavanaugh.[10]
