History

Between 1976 and 1977 the first actions for the establishment of a stock exchange, by Ernesto Wende, Oscar Parada, Guillen Gaston, Gaston Mujía, Jose Crespo and Luis Ergueta and Chirveches began. In 1979, Marcelo Perez Monasterios, as president of the Confederation of Private Businessmen of Bolivia (CEPB), convened a meeting to appoint a commission to carry out the actions to achieve the foundation of the bag. This management resulted in the same CEPB, on April 19, 1979 when the Bolivian Stock Exchange was founded as a corporation nonprofit. The bag was formed with 71 members, with a capital of $ b. 1,420,000.00, limiting the shareholding to the possession of one share per partner.

The first General Meeting held on the same day of the foundation approved the Draft Statute further proceeding with the appointment of its first directory. This governing body was responsible for carrying out the necessary procedures for the approval of the Statutes by the National Securities Commission and the legal status of the company, in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Code.

On October 20, 1989 marks the start of operation of the bag and ends the period of promotion and organization was long and difficult. However, it was on November 16 that the first transaction wheel, consisting of sales transactions of negotiable certificates of deposit of the Central Bank of Bolivia (CEDES) was performed. Stockbrokers who participated were ASERFIN that time, Banco Santa Cruz and Citibank. All shares were sold by the Central Bank of Bolivia, which at the time operated directly on wheel, free to hire intermediaries.

The first wheel operators who were involved in these operations were Javier Aneiva (BCB), Norma Lia Guerra de Galdo (ASERFIN), Marianela Zeballos (Banco Santa Cruz) and Lucas Lozada (Citibank).

Then, the stock market began its expansion. And, to date there are 115 companies of 15 items listed on the Exchange.
