Lagusia is a genus of fish from the Terapontidae family. The only member of the genus is Lagusia micracanthus. Lagusia micracanthus is endemic to Sulawesi, Indonesia.[1]

Life cycle and behavior

The female reaches its fullest number of eggs at around 56 mm SL. The male parent of the species cares for the eggs. Lagusia micracanthus typically shoals.

Habitat

Lagusia micracanthus lives in tropical freshwater and brackish bodies of water.

Appearance and anatomy

Adult specimens are silver-grey with horizontal black stripes. On average, their length can range anywhere from 50-115 mm (2-4.5 in), making them one of the smallest grunters.
