Express Live Pavilion (formerly Promowest Pavilion and Lifestyle Communities Pavilion) is an indoor-outdoor concert venue in Columbus, Ohio. It is part of the downtown Columbus entertainment area known as the Arena District, which also includes Nationwide Arena, Huntington Park and the Arena Grand Theatre. PromoWest Productions, owner of the Newport Music Hall, owns and operates the pavilion. The Express Live Pavilion features state-of-the-art lighting, acoustical systems and an innovative, one-of-a-kind reversible stage. Structurally, it's divided into three independent concert spaces: indoor music hall, outdoor amphitheater and the plaza. The venues unique design flexibility helped win a nomination for "Best New Major Concert Venue" in 2001 by Pollstar Magazine, the concert industry's leading publication.[1]
The inside capacity is 2,200, while the outside can hold up to 5,200, with both lawn and pavilion sections and entertains over 275,000 people each year.[2] Naming rights were owned by Lifestyle Communities, a local condo and apartment company, but it was announced in 2015 that Lifestyle Communities would not be renewing the naming rights. The name was picked up by Express, Inc..[3] The pavilion played host to the politically motivated Vote for Change Tour on October 2, 2004, featuring performances by Babyface and John Mellencamp.[4]
In 2012, the pavilion introduced the "LC Pavilion Festival Setting" for a sold out Mumford & Sons show. The festival setting will be utilized again this summer when national touring acts Fun. and Kesha take Columbus.
