The following countries have or had comprehensive prohibitions against alcohol. Apart from the Indian states, all the countries and regions that presently ban alcohol have a significant Muslim majority.

• United Arab Emirates (In the emirate of Sharja; not including non-Muslims)
• India (In the states of Gujarat, Bihar, Kerala, Manipur and Nagaland and in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep)
• Yemen
