List of mosques in Hyderabad

Hyderabad has a large number of mosques. Many of these mosques were built during the reign of the Qutub Shahis and the Nizams.

Notable mosques

Makkah Masjid

The Makkah Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India, with a capacity of 10,000 worshippers. Close to Charminar, the mosque is located in the old city. It was built in 1694 by Muhammed Quli Qutb Shah. It is said to have been built with bricks made from the soil brought from Mecca, hence the name.

The Spanish Mosque

The Spanish Mosque was built by the Paigah Nawab Iqbal-ud-Daula after his return from Spain, in 1906. The design is inspired from the Great Mosque of Córdoba. It is located at Begumpet.

Khairtabad Mosque

The Khairtabad Mosque was built during the Qutb Shahi period in the Khairtabad locality.

Toli Masjid

The Toli Masjid is one of the finest exambples of Qutb Shahi architecture. It is located near the Golconda Fort.
