Lusitano Ginásio Clube commonly known as Lusitano de Évora is a Portuguese sports club from the city of Évora.[1] The club was founded in 1911. It currently plays at the Complexo Desportivo do Lusitano which was built in 2006 and is able to hold a seating capacity of 10,000.[2][3]
On the 27 May 2006, Complexo Desportivo do Lusitano hosted an international friendly match between Portugal and Cape Verde in preparation for Portugal participating in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in which Portugal won 4–1.[4][5] The club played in the Primeira Liga from 1953 until the 1965–66.[6] It reached the semifinals of the Taça de Portugal twice, in 1953 and 1959. The club was suspended in the 2011–12 season for entering any tier in the Portuguese football pyramid.[7] In 2013–14 they were allowed to start over in the Évora District League Divisão de Honra Série A (district second division, fifth division overall).
