Madalena (Greek: Μανταλένα) is a 1960 Greek comedy film directed by Dinos Dimopoulos. It was entered into the 1961 Cannes Film Festival.[1] The film won three awards in the 1st Thessaloniki Film Festival

Plot

A girl lives in a small Greek island of Aegean. Along with her multimember family lives from the job of her father who has a little boat that carries passengers to the opposite island. When her father dies, she has to take over her family and take care of her brothers and sisters. But the small society of the island doesn't see positively a woman which works. Despite the obstacles she doesn't give up. Frustrated from the difficulties, she decides to get married with a rich farmer of the island. But the love of her main competitor turns over the situation.[2]
