Madhubani (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: मधुबनी विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Madhubani district in the Indian state of Bihar. In Bihar Legislative Assembly election, 2015, Madhubani will be one of the 36 seats to have VVPAT enabled electronic voting machines.[1][2]

Overview

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 36 Madhubani (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Madhubani municipality; Basuara, Bhachhi, Bhavara, Lachhminagar, Sonaur, Maksuda, Khajuri, Shambhuar, Sundarpur, Bhitthi, Balia gram panchayats of Madhubani community development block; and Pandaul CD Block.[3]

Madhubani (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 6 Madhubani (Lok Sabha constituency).[3]

Election results

1977-2010

In the November 2010, October 2005, February 2005 and 2000 state assembly elections, Ramdeo Mahto of BJP won the Madhubani assembly seat defeating his nearest rivals Naiyar Azam of RJD in November 2010, Aslam of RJD in October 2005, Rajkumar Mahaseth, contesting as Independent in February 2005 and representing RJD in 2000. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Raj Kumar Mahaseth representing JD in 1995 and contesting as an Independent in 1990 defeated Prem Chandra Mishra of Congress. Padma Chaubey of Congress defeated Raj Kumar Mahaseth of JP in 1985. Raj Kumar Mahaseth of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Singh) defeated Padma Chaubey of Congress in 1980. Digambar Thakur of JP defeated Lokesh Nath Jha of Congress in 1977.[4][5]
