Maru-a-Pula School is an independent, co-educational, secondary school located in Gaborone, Botswana. Founded in 1972, it has grown from an initial class of 25 students to over 26 today. Maru-a-Pula offers a rigorous academic program, with students taking recognized international examinations including the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the GCE Advanced Level University Entrance exams (A Level). Approximately 25% of the students board at the school, as one of the only two schools in Botswana that offer boarding. Over half of the students are Batswana, but more than 40 other countries are represented, including the United States, India, England, South Africa, Nigeria, China, Zimbabwe, and Romania. The school hosted the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships in 1999 and have sent a team of 2 to attend the 2008 Championships in Stuttgart. Recently in the Inter-schools Botswana Ranking 2014, the school was placed second in Botswana in the [Boarding School Category].


SPE

Maru-a-Pula’s afternoon programme is call SPE: made up of Service, Physical and Enrichment activities.
