Mateusz Mika (born 21 January 1991) is a Polish volleyball player, a member of Poland men's national volleyball team and Polish club Lotos Trefl Gdańsk, 2014 World Champion, a bronze medalist of the 2011 European Championship, Polish Champion (2012).

Career

Clubs

Season 2012/2013 spent in Lotos Trefl Gdańsk.[1] In season 2013/2014 played for French club - Montpellier UC. On June 12, 2014 came back to club from Gdańsk and signed a contract with Lotos Trefl Gdańsk.[2] On April 19, 2015 Lotos Trefl Gdańsk, including Mika, achieved Polish Cup 2015.[3][4] He was Most Valuable Player of tournament. Then he won silver medal of Polish Championship.[5] In April 2015 signed next two-year contract with his club.[6]

National team

He debuted in Polish national team on May 29, 2010 in friendly match with France. In 2011 was in the Polish team conducted by Andrea Anastasi on the European Championship 2011, when Poland won bronze medal. In 2014 was appointed by coach Stephane Antiga on World League. Initially, he was supposed to be a deputy principal players during matches in Brazil, but after few victories (among others, the winning match with Brazil on May 31, 2014) he has become the favorite to play at the World Championship.[7][8] On August 16, 2014 was appointed to squad at World Championship held in Poland.[9][10] On September 21, 2014 won a title of World Champion 2014.[11][12][13] On October 27, 2014 received a state award granted by the Polish President Bronisław Komorowski - Gold Cross of Merit for outstanding sports achievements and to promote Polish in the world.[14]
