Menno Snel

Menno Snel (Vleuten-De Meern, 29 October 1970) is a Dutch politician. He's a state secretary in the Finance ministry since October 2017 in the Third Rutte Cabinet

Carreer

Menno Snel studied general economics between 1988 and 1994 at the University of Groningen. After graduation he worked at the Dutch bank MeesPierson and was from 1995 the deputy director-general for fiscal affairs at the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands.

After this, he worked for the pension fund APG, where he held from 2009 to 2011 the position of director strategy and policy. Between 2011 and 2016 he worked in Washington D.C. with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and on en 1 September 2016 he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of the Nederlandse Waterschapsbank.

Sinds 26 oktober 2017 is hij staatssecretaris van Financiën in het op die dag aangetreden kabinet-Rutte III. Kort voor deze datum werd hij lid van D66. Een van zijn hoofdtaken is het verder reorganiseren van de Nederlandse Belastingdienst.
