Alexander Michael Hirst Aikman (9 September 1933 – 16 February 2005) was an Australian rower, an Olympic medal winner at Melbourne 1956.[1]
In 1956 he was the bowman of the Australian boat which won the bronze medal in the eights event.[2]
Following his college and rowing days, Aikman held a career in academia. From 1966 until 1973 he was headmaster at The Scots School in Bathurst, New South Wales, followed by a headmaster appointment at Haileybury, Melbourne.[3]
In 2010 he was inducted as a member of the Rowing Victoria Hall of Fame.
