Michael Monfils

Michael Monfils is a former Mayor of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Biography

Monfils was born on December 12, 1938.[1] He attended St. Norbert College and Loyola University Chicago and served as an officer in the United States Army and United States Army Reserve.[2] In 1967, he married Mary Peterson. They had two children. He married Mary Timney in 1986. Monfils has also been a member of the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Political career

Monfils was elected to the Green Bay City Council and the Brown County, Wisconsin Board of Supervisors in 1972. He would serve as Mayor from 1975 to 1979. In 1980, he was the Democratic candidate for the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin's 8th congressional district. He lost to incumbent Toby Roth.
