History

The building was constructed by U.S. Representative Alexander Mitchell. It would go on to house a bank. The property is presumed to have once been the site of the residence of Solomon Juneau.[2] Juneau helped to found Milwaukee and served as its first mayor. The Mitchell Building is adjacent to the Mackie Building, which was also built by Mitchell, designed by E. Townsend Mix and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
