Mithankot (Urdu: مِٹهن كوٹ‎) is a city in southern Punjab, Pakistan. Mithankot is located on the right (west) bank of the Indus River, only a short distance downstream from its junction with Panjnad River.

History

Origins

Mithan Kot was founded by a man named Mithan Khan. He was jatoi by caste and hailed from Paray Wali which was a small town in Seet Pur. It is really worth-exploring why and how the man migrated /travelled from so remote a town and in an age when travel was a difficult and trying experience and means of transportation were unimaginably scarce.

Climate and economy

The climate is arid and desert-like, the average annual rain fall being only 4 inches (100mm). It is extremely hot in summer and quite cold in winter. South Side is Great Indus River The cultivation of crops such as wheat, sugarcane, cotton and rice is enabled through the irrigation of canals from the Indus.[1]
