Mordovsky District (Russian: Мордо́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[3] district (raion), one of the twenty-three in Tambov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,450 square kilometers (560 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Mordovo.[1] Population: 19,375 (2010 Census);[4] 23,671 (2002 Census);[7] 28,522 (1989 Census).[8] The population of Mordovo accounts for 33.7% of the district's total population.[4]
