Naushahro Feroze District , (Sindhi: نوشهرو فیروز‎), is a district in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. Its capital is Naushahro Feroze city. Administratively subdivided into five talukas and 51 Union Councils, according to the 1998 census of Pakistan it had a population of 1,087,571, increasing to 1,621,780 as of the 2012 census initial tabulations.[1]

Government and politics

National Assembly representation

District Naushahro Feroze has two members in National Assembly of Pakistan. The district electoral is referred as NA-211 and NA-212. The member elected from NA-211 represents the constituencies of Moro and Naushahro Feroze Talukas. The member elected from NA-212 represents Kandiaro, Bhirya and Mehrabpur Talukas.

Provincial Assembly representation

The district has five member representation in Provincial Assembly of Sindh. The provincial assembly electoral for the district is as below:

  • PS-19 (Naushahro Feroze city, Mithiani, Abran, Bhorti)
  • PS-20 (Tharushah, Bhirya, Darbelo)
  • PS-21 (Halani, Kandiaro, Mehrabpur)
  • PS-22 (Padidan, Cheeho, Miranpur)
  • PS-23 (Moro, New Jatoi, Dars)

The main N-5 passes through the district. The main Railway Track passes through the district

Religion

Most of the population of district, 96.72, are Muslim, Hindus form 2.89% (forming 7.96% of the urban population of the district) and others are 1.17%.[citation needed] Like other parts of Sindh, people of this district are predominantly tolerant and believe in religious co-existence.[citation needed]
