Nazugum (Uyghur: نۇزۇگۇم‎, USY: нузугум, ULY: Nuzugum) was a legendary Uyghur heroine. She was born Hanipagul and was a daughter of Avutulla, an Uyghur commander stationed in Artush. She was captured by Qing invaders and sold to Shi Sang as a concubine. She escaped and attempted to evade capture but was recaptured nonetheless, imprisoned, and later executed.[1]

Uyghur poet and freedom-fighter Bilal Nazym wrote of Nazugum in Stories about Nazugum. Uyghur composer Quddus Khojamyarov adopted Nazugum's story into the first Uyghur opera Nazugum. Other adoptions, including film, followed.[1]
