Päivätär ('maiden of the Day') or Kuutar ('Maiden of the Moon'), was the goddess of the Sun and Moon in Finnish mythology. As a sun goddess, she is referred to as Päivätär, and as a moon goddess, she is called Kuutar, but she was in fact the same goddess with two aspects. She was described as a great beauty. She is described in Kalevala.
