Pance (pronounced [ˈpaːntsɛ]) is a settlement in the hills north of Grosuplje in central Slovenia. It belongs to the City Municipality of Ljubljana. Traditionally the area was part of Lower Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.[2]

Mass graves

Pance is the site of four known mass graves associated with the Second World War. They are located in the woods northeast of the settlement and contain the remains of Slovene civilians that were accused of spying and were murdered by the Partisans in spring 1942. The Cirje 2 Mass Grave (Slovene: Grobišče Cirje 2) is also known as the Underhill Mass Grave (Grobišče Pod grmado).[3] The Cirje 3 Mass Grave (Grobišče Cirje 3) is also known as the Ravne Mass Grave (Grobišče Ravne).[4] The Cirje 4 Mass Grave (Grobišče Cirje 4) is also known as the Cirje Mass Grave (Grobišče Cirje).[5] The Cirje 5 Mass Grave (Grobišče Cirje 5) is also known as the Big Ravine Mass Grave (Grobišče Velika Draga).[6]
