Ponderosa High School, which opened in 1963,[2] is a member of the El Dorado Union High School District in El Dorado County, California, United States. It is located on Ponderosa Road, Shingle Springs, California, USA, a semi-rural location.

In the 2005–06 school year, there were 2,061 students enrolled. Ponderosa's mascot is the Bruin. The principal of Ponderosa is Lisa H. Garrett,[3] with Darren Slojkowski, Serna Teixiera, and Jeremy Hunt as the Assistant Principals.

Academic Attainments

The school's daily schedule consists of a modified block schedule with three traditional days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday) and two "block" days (Wednesday and Thursday) allowing for a total of seven classes. Ponderosa High School houses the agriculture program for the district. Ponderosa is a California Distinguished School and has met its API consistently over the past[when?] three years.[citation needed] They have also held first place in the El Dorado County Academic Decathlon for the past[when?] 23 years.[4]

Sports

Ponderosa High School offers many sports programs, including football, volleyball, soccer, and track and field. Ponderosa is in the Division II Capital Valley Conference.
