Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Ramayapatnam is a small village in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, India on the bank of the Bay of Bengal, 5 km from NH-5. It is a tourist destination. Earlier its name is "Ramapatnam", later got the name Mayapatnam again was renamed as "Ramayapatnam". There is a lighthouse here apart from a major seminary Ramayapatnam Baptist Theological Seminary, established more than a century ago by the American Baptist Mission and managed presently by the Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches. Since 1964, the college amalgamated itself with the Andhra Christian Theological College, Hyderabad for courses affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University).

The Ramayapatnam has gained significance in the recent past (2012) as it was selected for a major seaport construction by the central government. The central government has decided in its maritime agenda for the coming 10 years to award two major ports on the east coast region to give boost to the cargo exports and imports. Sagar Island was selected in West Bengal and the second being the Ramayapatnam in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.

The Ramayapatnam port will be developed in 10,000 acres of land with Port,ship building and breaking units and other allied units in the area.Thereis also proposal waiting for approval by the central cabinet for sanctioning of a National Maufacturing and Investment Zone in the Ramayapatnam area to start industrial growth and development.

The Ramayapatnam is located 30 km from the city Ongole which is also a district headquarters. It is estimated that in the coming 5-10 years the Prakasam district is going to witness tremendous growth in areas of industrialisation, infrastructure,exports of Granite, Cotton, Tobacco, Salt, Aqua, Iron ore, etc.
