Rautjärvi is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the South Karelia region. The municipality has a population of 3,505 (31 March 2016)[2] and covers an area of 401.89 square kilometres (155.17 sq mi) of which 50.25 km2 (19.40 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 9.97 inhabitants per square kilometre (25.8/sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish. It was the birthplace of legendary sniper Simo Häyhä, hero of the Winter War of World War II.
