Packaging and title
The album was named after Engelbert's breakout #1[1] hit single "Release Me," which was released on January 13, 1967.[2]
Release
Decca Records released the album in the UK on May 12, 1967.[3] Parrot Records issued a 12 track version of the album in the US in June 1967[4]. The US album added the May 12, 1967 #3 single[1][3] "There Goes My Everything" and omitted "Misty Blue" and "If I Were You." Parrot listed "My World" as "Il Mondo", "Walk Through This World" as "Walk Through This World With Me", and the title track as "Release Me (And Let Me Love Again)."
Decca re-issued the UK version of the album on CD in 1987 on the London label;[5] they released it again in 2017 as disc 1 of The Complete Decca Studio Albums.[6]
