Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. 1960s through 1980: The Himmarshee Village was started in the late 60s- early 70s as a peaceful village dwelling. It hosted leather tooling shops, a community theater,a fresh seafood store,a health food shops, a tea room, military surplus store, and more. Populated by several hundred people,(a.k.a. second and first generation hippies, the Village residents gathered in the adjoining park almost daily. The New River canal ran adjacent to the Village, where the locals fished or set traps for blue crab.

Riverwalk (Fort Lauderdale) is also known as the Fort Lauderdale Riverfront. It is the club district in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There are two main streets that run through the district, Las Olas Boulevard and Himmarshee Street. In addition to the bars and clubs, there are restaurants, cafes, and a movie theater.

The bars and restaurants located off 2nd Street include: TacoCraft, a tequila bar and taqueria. Rok:Brgr, a gourmet burger bar and gastropub. Himmarshee Public House, American tavern and draft house. Tarpon Bend, specializing in seafood. Stache, a modern speakeasy with craft cocktails, live music & burlesque dancers.

The second area of Fort Lauderdale Riverfront, also known as "Himmarshee Village", runs down Himmarshee Street passing the train-tracks. There are several bars, clubs, cafes, and restaurants which include: The Porterhouse, Tarpon Bend, Club Cyn, E-Bar, Dicey Riley's, Capone's, America's Backyard, Rok:Brgr, TacoCraft and Himmarshee Public House. America's Backyard features a large outdoor venue, along with an upstairs which contains a large balcony and also a traditional indoor area.

Parking is available at the Government Center Garage at variable rates and there are several gravel and paved lots nearby that charge a flat rate between $5–$10. Parking is available on the street and payable through meters or the PayByPhone app. Be aware that Fort Lauderdale Parking Enforcement strictly enforces metered spots.

It is close to other interesting parts of the riverwalk. Museum of Science & Discovery is a great place for children and adults alike. There is also a park that runs along with waterfront that is home to many festivals and events.[1]
