Rizwangul (Uyghur: رىزۋانگۈل, USY: ризвангүл, ULY: Rizwangül) was an Uyghur nurse and heroine who served the Second East Turkestan Republic. She died while protecting East Turkestani freedom-fighters from the Chinese in 1945.[1]
In 1950, Uyghur composer Quddus Khojamyarov adopted Rizwangul's story into a symphonic poem and won the USSR State Prize for it in 1951.[2][3]
