Roman Catholic Diocese of Auckland

The Latin Rite Catholic Diocese of Auckland is one of the two original New Zealand dioceses (with Wellington), both originally established on 20 June, 1848. Auckland became a suffragan diocese of Wellington when it became the metropolitan see in 1887.[1] The original territory of the Auckland diocese was divided, losing a large area south of Auckland, on 6 March 1980 to form the Diocese of Hamilton.
