Rosa 'Precious Platinum' is a medium red hybrid tea rose. It is a hybrid of Rosa 'Red Planet' and Rosa 'Franklin Engelmann'. It was bred by Patrick Dickson in the Northern Ireland in 1974.[1][2] Alternative names are 'Opa Pötschke' and 'Red Star'.[1]

Description

It is a vigorous shrub which grows up to 1 metre high. The prolific, large red flowers are high centred.[1] They have long, strong stems and are mildy fragrant making them suitable for cutting.[1][3] The dark green leathery foliage provides a good contrast to the flowers.[1]

Cultivation

The cultivar is suitable for mass plantings, as a hedge or grown in containers. It is regarded as easy to grow, being disease-resistant and tolerant of poor soils.[1] It prefers a position in full sun.[1]
