Sabiha Derviş Sertel (1895, Salonica – September 2, 1968 Baku) was the first professional female journalist and one of the first feminist writers in Turkey with Dönmeh ancestry.[1] Educated in a progressive high school, Sertel began writing essays at the age of sixteen on women's rights and social issues.[2] In 1915 she married Zekeriya Sertel, also a famous journalist in Salonica and Istanbul. She worked for the newspaper Tan and the magazine Görüşler.
