SchilliX is an OpenSolaris-based live CD and distribution.[1] It was released on 17 June 2005, three days after the first release of OpenSolaris and its initial developers were Jörg Schilling, Fabian Otto, Thomas Blaesing, and Tobias Kirschstein.

Features

Its developers claim that it is the first pure OpenSolaris-based boot CD.[2]

Version 0.7.1i used the Illumos project for the build.[3] Version 0.7.2 was the first OpenSolaris-like distro that capable of compiling the OpenSolaris source base.

Contributions to open source

The SchilliX project created an OSS replacement for the K&R cpp needed by rpcgen, dtrace and the assembler.
