Senate of the Dominican Republic
Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. The Senate (Senado) is the upper house of the Dominican Republic's bicameral National Congress. The lower house is the Chamber of Deputies.
It currently comprises 32 senators who are elected for four-year terms. The 31 provinces and the National District each return one senator. Until 2010, congressional elections were held in even numbered years not divisible by four. The next election is scheduled to be held in May 2016 to match with the presidential election, when the entire Chamber and Senate are replaced. There are no term limits for senators.
