Politics of Bosnia and Herzegovina Political parties Elections |
The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian: Socijaldemokratska Partija Bosne i Hercegovine, SDP BiH) is a self-declared multi-ethnic, but largely Bosniak,[2][3][4] social-democratic political party in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The SDP was formed in 1991 as the successor of the League of Communists of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH branch of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, which had governed Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Yugoslav federation since World War II. The party was enlarged by the inclusion of the Socijaldemokrati BiH (The Social Democrats of BiH) party to the original SDP.
The current president of the party is Nermin Nikšić.
The SDP is associate of the Party of European Socialists (PES) and member of the Socialist International (SI).
