Sports physical examination
From Infogalactic: the planetary knowledge core
A sports physical exam or sports physical is a physical examination performed on those entering into a sport. The purpose is to ensure the participant is safe to participate.
Special concerns for sport/athletics participation:
- Asthma
- Female athlete triad
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy that can cause sudden cardiac death in otherwise healthy adolescents; some countries routinely screen for HCM with an EKG while others do not
- Musculoskeletal injuries (e.g., ACL injury) and ways to reduce further injury
- Osgood–Schlatter disease
