The sportscotland institute of sport (Formerly known as the Scottish Institute of Sport or SIS) is the national sports development body in Scotland. It is part of sportscotland, a publicly owned company which is partly funded by the UK's National Lottery.
The SIS was established in 1998. In 2002 it moved into a custom-built facility in the grounds of the University of Stirling, adjacent to the university's own sports facilities and the Scottish National Swimming Academy.
The institute merged with sportscotland (the national agency for sport in Scotland) in 2009 as part of a Scottish Government directive.
