Stéphane Giocanti (born in 1967) is a French novelist, biographer, editor and literary critic.

Career overview

Stéphane Giocanti holds a doctorate in literature (1994). In addition to works on Charles Maurras, Jules Laforgue and Frédéric Mistral, he wrote the first French biography of the English poet and playwright T. S. Eliot, which was awarded a prize by the Institut de France (2003), and an essay on political philosophy entitled Les Enfants de l'utopie (1998), which earned him the esteem of philosopher Pierre Boutang. Giocanti wrote the preface to the re-edition of Les Abeilles de Delphes (1999) and edited La Source sacrée (2003), works of literary and philosophical criticism by Boutang. He also published Lavalette's Mémoires et souvenirs (1994), and Le Hussard du général, interviews with Jacques Dauer (1995).

A specialist in the works of Vincent d'Indy, to whom he has devoted numerous articles and lectures, he has contributed to the journal L'Éducation musicale and participated in various musicology and literature symposia.

Giocanti published the novel Kamikaze d'été (2008), which is set between 1945 and the late 1960s in Japan. It features the writer Yukio Mishima. In 2013, he published another novel, Désir de Kyoto, which returns to the theme of male love and Japan.

He is also a French teacher at the Lycée Gustave-Monod in Enghien-les-Bains.
