Stephen J. Blackwood
Stephen James Blackwood is a scholar, academic administrator, and social entrepreneur born in 1975.[1] He is the founding President of Ralston College, a start-up institution of higher education in Savannah.[2][3][4] He specializes in the literary history of philosophy,[5] and his work has focused particularly on Boethius.[6][7][8][9] Oxford University Press published his book The Consolation of Boethius as Poetic Liturgy in 2015.[10][11][12][13][14][15] He was educated at the University of King's College, Dalhousie University,[16] and Emory University,[17] and has been a Fellow in the English Department of Harvard University. Some years ago he was the founding Executive Director of St George's YouthNet,[18][19] an educational mentoring program for inner-city youth in the North End district of Halifax, Nova Scotia, after which he was for two years a teaching fellow in the Foundation Year Programme,[20] a core-text program for first-year undergraduates at the University of King's College.[21] He is a citizen of both the United States and Canada, and is a member of the Mont Pelerin Society. He also sits on the Board of the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation.[22] He has recently been in the public eye as a defender of the integrity of the private sphere[23] and as an opponent of Obamacare.[24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34]
