Syracuse Orange is the NCAA college soccer (football) team for Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. They are a Division 1 team in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Syracuse is currently coached by Ian McIntyre who has brought the team to three NCAA tournament appearances and the 2015 ACC Conference Title defeating Notre Dame 1-0. In 2014 McIntyre was named the ACC coach of the Year.

Success after Syracuse

The student-athletes that have found professional soccer success after Syracuse are Chris Aloisi, captain of the 2003 team, was drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer and was a member of the Houston Dynamo during its run to the MLS Cup 2006.

Richard Asante, an All-BIG EAST and All-Northeast Region selection in 2006, became the latest member of the Orange to be selected in the MLS SuperDraft. He was taken with the first pick in the third round (27th overall) by Toronto FC.

In addition, the Orange has had a player selected in the USL First Division College Draft in eight of the last 10 years, including 2006 when Ezra Prendergast was chosen by the Rochester Raging Rhinos. Prendergast was also picked in the MLS Supplemental Draft by the Chicago Fire. Syracuse has also had players compete in the NPSL, WISL and USISL.

SU Players Who Have Played in Europe

Patrice Bernier

Was a member of the Syracuse Orange squad from 1998 - 1999. Bernier made a big impact at SU in his short career. After being named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team in 1998, Bernier was a first-team All-BIG EAST and first-team All-New York State pick after scoring five goals and handing out 8 assists. He later signed with the Montreal Impact of the A-League following his sophomore season.
He then would join Moss F.K. of the Norwegian Premier League in 2003. In 40 appearances with the club, he scored one goal. He left the team in 2004 to join Tromsø, also of the Norwegian Premier League. In 56 appearances he found the back of the net four times. He stayed with the club till 2007. Bernier currently plays for the Montreal Impact.

Bernier was called up to the Canadian National soccer team for the first time in 2004 and continues to play for his country today.

John Andrade

Was a member of the Syracuse Orange squad from 1998 - 2001. A four-year letterwinner and co-captain of the 2001 squad, John Andrade was with C.S. Marítimo of the Portuguese 1st Division in 2002.

Cameron Hall

Was a member of the Syracuse Orange squad from 1995 - 1998. Hall played in 32 games in his career at SU. His lone goal came in his senior year when he scored against No. 11 Georgetown to put SU ahead, 2-1. He would later join SV Waldhof Mannheim of the German 2nd Division in 1999. Hall moved to FSV Salmrohr of the German 3rd Division in 2000. He stayed with the club till 2003.

Eric Puls

Was a member of the Syracuse Orange squad from 1989 - 1992. He would go on to join Rot Weiss Waldorf of the German 3rd Division in 1992. He stayed with the club till 1994. He would later on be drafted by the Colorado Rapids in MLS's Inaugural Draft in 1996.
